How does IndyPublish differ from the other online publishers?
IndyPublish is unique in that we give authors the most choices and the most flexibility. In addition, our services are affordable; we offer competitive royalties; and we let the author set the price of his/her book. IndyPublish offers authors a basic publishing package that is entirely FREE and four upgraded publishing packages that permit authors to choose the level of service and cost that suits them. These IndyPublish packages meet or beat the services and costs offered elsewhere. Additionally, we round out these packages with an attractive way for authors to bring previously published works back into print, including a way to do that for FREE. We are here to help you help yourselves. You put in a lot of time and effort giving birth to your book. IndyPublish can dress it up and get it out there into the hands of your audience.

What does print-on-demand publishing mean?
Print-on-demand means that books are printed in response to an order for it. In most cases, orders will come from individual buyers, but if a book is hot, booksellers may order a supply of them to have on hand to meet demand. We use new technology to electronically store and print your book, so your book need never go out-of-print. With books stored electronically, the historic practice of warehousing them in anticipation of demand, that may or may not materialize, is not necessary. Print-on-demand is the future happening right now.

Are any manuscripts submitted to IndyPublish rejected? Are manuscripts reviewed?
No, we accept all submissions except for manuscripts containing inappropriate content. There is no review process for any of our publishing programs. If a book is found to contain inappropriate content after it has been published, IndyPublish reserves the right to take whatever action it sees fit, including to remove the offending book from our electronic database, terminate the publishing agreement with the author, and refuse future works from the author.

How is the price of my book determined?
You may set your own price for paperback books using the pricing/royalty calculator. IndyPublish provides a minimum price that is based on page count. The paperback price determines price of e-book and hardback editions.

Will my book be available at traditional bookstores?
Your book will be listed with Baker & Taylor, the second largest wholesaler and it will be available for order from thousands of traditional bookstores everywhere. Because it will be a print-on-demand book, it is unlikely to be seen on bookstore shelves, but will be in their references of Books-in-Print.

Will an ISBN be assigned to my book?
Yes, each book will be assigned a unique International Standard Book Number (ISBN). This number is required by book sales channels to track and order your books. In addition, free of charge, IndyPublish will place a machine-readable Bookland/EAN barcode on the back cover of your book.

How will potential buyers find my book?
Your book will be available for sale at the major online booksellers such as Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, Borders.com and Powells.com. Your book also will be available for order from your author's website and thousands of traditional bookstores everywhere.

Will my book be promoted?
Promotion of the book is the responsibility of the author. There are many way to do that yourself, and professionals are available who can help for a fee. You may also select one of our promotional services from the Add-on Services menu for an additional fee.

What kind of binding and paper does IndyPublish use?
Your book will be perfect-bound and it will be printed on 60lb acid-free paper. Covers are done on 10 point untreated stock, which is then laminated before binding.

Will my book ever go out-of-print?
Not necessarily. Once your title is stored in our digital database, your book need never go out of print. If you purchased one of our publishing packages, IndyPublish will maintain your book in our database indefinitely for FREE. If you selected the FREE publishing package, then IndyPublish will electronically store your book in our database for one year from the date of publication, regardless of how many copies of the book are sold during that year. If, however, during that or any succeeding year less than twelve copies are sold, IndyPublish will retain the book in its database only upon payment by the author of $50.00 per year.

How will you distribute my book?
