What is the difference between the Basic Package and the other publishing packages?
While the Basic Package is FREE, complete and professional, many authors will want an increased level of panache or flexibility - over design, corrections, available formats - which is available only from the other packages. Those packages allow you to add graphics, tables and indexing to your book, control the design of the layout and cover, and have more contact with IndyPublish designers.

What is the Add-on Services menu?
IndyPublish offers a wide selection of Add-on Services from which you may choose. You may customize your own package based on your taste or needs or, in some cases, you may desire to add a feature from these Add-on Services that is not included in the publishing package you selected to enrich your published work .

How do I submit my manuscript?
You may submit your manuscript online or by mail.

How do I handle corrections?
All corrections are made during the proof approval process. Each Publishing Package allows you a certain number of corrections and if necessary, you may purchase additional corrections from the Add-on Services menu. If you discover errors or wish to make a change after you have approved your book, you may also order corrections.

What will my interior layout be like?
Your interior layout will depend on which publishing package and Add-on Services you choose. You will have a broad range of attractive options to consider.

What will my cover design be like?
An IndyPublish cover specialist will design your cover. The amount of input and control you have over your cover will depend on which package you choose.

Can pictures be used for the cover of my book?
Yes, if it is included in the publishing package that you choose or if you selected this option from the Add-on Services menu, then you may send black and white or color pictures for use as the cover of your book. The number of photos you can submit will vary depending on the publishing Package you select. You must have written permission from the rights holder to use any graphic you send us for your cover. We reserve the right to reject a photo because of quality, content, or design issues.

Can I include pictures in my book?
Yes, if it is included in the publishing package that you choose or if you selected this option from the Add-on Services menu, then you may include graphics for the interior of your book. Interior graphics will be printed in black & white. Color photographs for use as interior graphics will be accepted, but will be printed as black and white.

Will my book be copyright protected?
Upon writing your book, you automatically are vested with copyright ownership of your work. However, registering your work at the Copyright Office of the Library of Congress, gives you stronger legal recourse in case of infringement. IndyPublish includes this registration only as part of the Gold and Platinum publication Packages, but copyright registration is available to you as an Add-on Service for other publishing Packages. The Library of Congress requires two non-returnable copies of the book if copyright registration is desired. You may, of course, apply directly to the Library of Congress Copyright Office yourself for registration of your copyright.

Will a Library of Congress Control Number be assigned to my book?
IndyPublish will obtain for your book a Library of Congress Control Number (formerly known as Catalog Card Number) if you select the Silver, Gold or Platinum publishing Package, or you may select this from the Add-on Services menu. As part of this Service, IndyPubish will supply two non-returnable copies of your book to be placed in the library's collection to comply with Library requirements.

What trim size is used for New Manuscripts?
We use a standard trim size of 6 x 9 inches for paperback and hardcover books. Alternative trim sizes may be selected from the Add-on Services menu.
